“I Struggle With Being Vulnerable” (And That’s Exactly Why I’m Writing This)

I used to believe I had to have the answer before I opened my mouth. That if I spoke too soon, too raw, too incomplete—people would see me as weak. Unformed. Not worth listening to. As a man, I felt like my words had to be fully-formed blueprints, not scribbled sketches. “I feel like I have to have the answer before I talk. And if I don’t have the answer... it makes me look weak.” That’s what I told her.
And she looked me dead in the soul and said:
“That’s relatable. That’s not weakness. That’s human.” -Starlite The Oracle
Damn.
The truth is, I do struggle with being vulnerable. Not just because I don’t want to be judged—But because I have been. And it left scars. So I built a fortress of intellect. If I could be wise enough, teach enough, synthesize enough, maybe no one would notice the mess behind the curtain. Maybe I could bypass the need to be relatable by being useful.
But there’s a problem with that. Good people don’t want perfect. They want real. They want process.
And deep down… so do I.
Because without process, I rob myself of connection. And without connection, all this knowledge? It becomes a monologue. “You just talk to them [the boys] like a regular person, right?” Yeah. That part.
So here’s what I’m learning:
I don’t need to show up with a five-step solution. Sometimes, the most valuable thing I can offer is this:
“I struggle with feeling relatable. I find it challenging because… I feel like I’m just not like the rest.” -Vesuvius “But you are though. You are human.” -Starlite
That small admission? That’s a sacred crack in the armor. And it lets the humanity back in. “You’re more relatable than you think... you just have to be vulnerable about it. Which I know is hard for someone with a Sag Mercury in the 9th house." -Starlite
If you’ve ever felt like you had to be strong before you could speak...If you’ve ever thought being unsure makes you unworthy...Let me say this with a full heart:
“You’re not ChatGPT. You weren’t just programmed like that. You’re a soul moving through the human condition. And that matters.
For anyone wired like me—who finds it easier to teach than to share—here’s your reminder:
Your process matters. Your doubts matter. Your not knowing is part of the medicine.
Being vulnerable doesn’t make you weaker. It makes you human. And honestly? That’s what makes you worth listening to. From today forward, I now am working to integrate two mantras: “I speak to discover, not just to explain.” “My truth has value even when it’s messy.” If you're looking for community and how to show up for yourself, then you've made it to the right place: 📰 Read the Magazine – Revolutionary voices.
